About Accommodation
in Tonga
Important - Please read!
The accommodation choices
we recommend in Tonga are premises that we have personally
inspected or stayed at.
When booking accommodation through WhaleSwim™ Adventures
we guarantee clean rooms of good standard with hot
showers and great service.
As part of your accommodation booking, our driver
Edward, (who has worked with us for 8 years) will
meet you on arrival in Tongatapu and transfer
you tothe domestic terminal or your accommodation and transfer you back to
the airport for your departure flight. He also speaks
& understands English. He is a licensed tour guide so if you have time to spare, he will happily take you on an island tour - full day ot 1/2 day. Please check with Edward for his rates before you agree to do the tour. If you want to go into Nuku'alofa - see the market or have a meal - he charges normal taxi rates for this service.
Remember Tonga is an under-developed country with
little tourism infrastructure and what is acceptable
accommodation for Tongan travel agency staff, may
not be acceptable by you!
This
is a service that we offer to all our guests - to make your stay in Tonga the
best it can be!

Fa Fa Island
Resort
Everything is built in the traditional Tongan style.
The walls are made from woven palm leaves, the roof
from wooden shingles. The interior, however, is of
utmost comfort: The bathroom in the palm garden with
WC and stainless steel shower, large double beds with
mosquito-net canopies. Each Fale has its own terrace
with tables and armchairs. The obligatory hammock
hangs out in the front near your lounges on the beach.
Solar panels provide lighting and warm water.
Deep within a palm grove: a typical Fale. All Fale's
stand alone, without immediate neighbors. Fellow vacationers
may be spotted along a stroll around the island, at
the bar, or if you invite them over.
Decorated with flowers, your Fale presents a special
welcome. Bathrobes and beach towels are provided,
of course. On hand, as well, are 220 Volts for shaving
and hair-drying.
Behind a private fence hides your extraordinary bathroom.
It's better to have an hibiscus in the loo, than a
bee in your bonnet!
There is another terrace in the bathroom area for
those of you who wish to sunbathe in your Birthday
Suit, since this is only done in privacy in all Tonga.
The restaurant is located directly on the breath-taking
beach and serves top cuisine. Breakfast alone causes
taste buds to dance: fruit, Muesli, juices, sausage,
and eggs prepared many ways. The light lunch menu
is announced on the restaurant bulletin board.
The daily varying evening menu satisfies the pickiest
palate: meat, fish or typical Tongan vegetables and
tropical desserts.
Once a week there is a barbecue with traditional and
international specialties. Lobster, steaks and even
German sausages are thrown on the barbi. An house
specialty: Tongan marinated fish salad -- a must!!
After dinner, there's time for a night-cap at the
bar. The Tongan's brew a good beer (following the
German Purity Act)! Of course all of the well-known
cocktails are available, as well as first-class New
Zealand and Australian wines.
Or would you rather sip fresh coconut juice with a
shot of Bacardi? "Cheers" is spoken "Ofa
atu" here.
Full free use of twice daily operating
motor sailor (transfer only to be paid once), use
of snorkeling gear, surf skies, volleyball, French
boule, bush walking, library, flight reconfirmation
service and tour desk service.

Staying over
in Tongatapu!
What you can see &
do!
We recommend that you
only spend a maximum of one day - at the most
on the main island of Tongatapu.
The main Nuku'alofa market, several interesting gift
stores and Friends Cafe (best coffee and food in Tonga!)
is worth experiencing.
A 1/2 -day tour to the blow-holes and historic sites
costs TOP$65 per person with our driver Edward - its
worth a look.
Other than that - you could spend the day out at Pangaimotu
Island Resort - good to do if you are there on a Sunday
- if a church service (to hear the wonderful singing)
doesn't appeal.
The blow-holes, Tongatapu

Most accommodation in Neiafu is situated on the beautiful
natural deep harbour (unless stated), therefore they
are not situated on a beach and there are no beaches

If you want accommodation on a beach, then you need
to go out onto the islands. We recommend Reef Resort, Mystic Sands Beach Bungalows, "Island Voyager' and The
